Welcome to the Alternative Therapies section of Westie World!

Alternative medicine is comprised of homeopathy and herbs, along with other forms of complementary medicine, including acupuncture, massage, nutritional glandular therapy, chiropractic care, Chinese medicine, magnetic therapy and many more. They are all active forms of medicine. They reinforce the body's own healing mechanisms rather than suppressing them. Today, more information regarding holistic therapies is surfacing in the media and other places. All this information can be overwhelming at times and I hope through this page we can "wade" through all the information together and make some informed decisions for our Westies! Our animals can directly benefit from many forms of holistic care.

While I do not think that alternative medicine is a replacement for conventional veterinary care, I do feel that alternative and conventional therapies can work together and complement one another.

Through the use of alternative therapies we can keep our pets' natural defense systems functioning at their peak and hopefully prevent many 'problems' from occurring.
