THANK YOU, JACKO
Whitebriar Jackaroo
(3/18/83 - 4/10/97)
13 years ago, Jacko introduced us to Westies. And the rest, as they say, is history. Without Jacko, Honolulu
would still have only a dozen or so Westies; we would have never visited England, Scotland, or New Zealand; we
would have never have experienced the Wonderful World of Westies; and we would have considered the Rainbow Bridge
as just another Oz. When the time came to let Jacko go in peace, we filled the void of the first night without
him by putting down the following thoughts as a remembrance that we would like to share with all who have had a
special Jacko in their lives.
Jack's life, tonight, we celebrate,
The founder of the Deeside Eight.
Without him we would not have known,
The delights in having Westies to own.
So full of mischief, so full of fun,
So full of joy when day was done.
And most of all, the love he gave,
Engulfed us like a tidal wave.
He knew naught but to give his all,
Love and loyalty at our beck and call.
His wagging tail and happy greeting,
Made daily troubles seem so fleeting.
In this life, years take their toll,
And good times do not forever roll.
Against the aging process we cannot win,
"Once upon a time" never comes again.
Today we had Jacko put to sleep,
But that's no cause for us to weep.
He's at the Bridge, where loyal ones go,
With restored body, running to and fro.
We know he'll be happy at that place,
While waiting to see a familiar face,
On the day that will come inevitably,
When we join him for eternity.
Tonight, Jack's just this side of heaven,
Tomorrow, we go on, the Deeside Seven.
Vale and Aloha,
Thank you, Jacko.
